So over the last few months (ok like 6) I’ve been working on a project, something to be a creative release cause without designing (working as a designer 40+ hours a work week and freelancing on top of that) I’ve felt a little lost..that my student loans sitting there were now a painful reminder of a talent and education no longer regularly being used. So what I have come up with is a twist to the popular trend right now. I’m customizing mason jar lamps, painting them with fun illustrations I’ve done or inspired designs from my environment. I’ve opened a etsy store that you can check out here but here are a few pics of my lamps too 🙂
Hand written grad card
As a graphic designer it’s so easy for me to just hop on the computer open one of my trusty adobe programs and start designer and then hit print and walla done! But today is special my niece graduates from 8th grade and is heading to high school. I wanted to do something different for her, put more effort in give it a more personal touch…so I broke out my sketch pad and pencils and this is what I ended up with:
And after sketching it out I went over it with good ole sharpie:
I trimmed it down and dry mounted it on foam board, found (from a ridiculous selection I have stashed) a great paper and mounted it in the center folded, and fastened with a button and some twine. I love the finished result! Hope it expresses to my niece how proud I am of her.
Another hit toy
So being a first time mom I’m all about the “hey this product really worked for us, our baby loved this” etc., so really I’ve thought might as well share my findings here. The first toy my son grabbed all on his own was the greentoys twist teethers, he loved this thing it’s easy to grab and noisy, a can’t lose combo
the colors catch his eyes, and the different textures keep his attention!
Yes, there’s Sophie again…The website has a bunch of great products check them out

Close to my heart
I recently was able to design my own baby shower invite for one of my showers, cause “gasp” I couldn’t just let my sister send out a generic e-vite 🙂 Before baby, there were furkids, 2 for me, 1 for my boyfriend. . . needless to say my son has 3 best friends eagerly waiting for his arrival. So I tried to depict the relationship that I see happening in my invite. . . I also am going to print just the illustration for the nursery. Nothing says love, like a boy and his dogs. . . .
